Valley Restaurant Hosts Back-to-School Drive
Sunday, July 12 through July 30, Valley Famous Dave's locations hosts the Back to School Supply Drive to benefit Southwest Human Development.
People can drop off new items at any of the four Valley Famous Dave's locations, at the Arizona Republic or Southwest Human Development during normal business hours. As a special incentive during this school supply drive, anyone who not only donates supplies, but also a new, book-size backpack at one of the Valley Famous Dave's locations will receive a voucher for a free Georgia Chopped Pork sandwich. Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation (AFFCF) hosts its third annual Backpack and School Supply Drive on Saturday, July 11 from 10 to 2 p.m. at the parking lot of Office Max at 44th St. and Thomas. The organization, which has been promoting self-esteem within and enriching the lives of the more than 17,000 children in Arizona foster care via the funding of activities, education and other needs since 1983, needs the help of generous citizens Valley wide to help support this special cause.

Local Ford RBA Model Wins Miss World America 2015
Congrats to Phoenix resident and Ford Robert Black Agency model, Victoria Mendoza, who was just crowned Miss World America 2015! Victoria competed against fifty other contestants from around the nation to win the coveted title on July 3, 2015 at the University of District Columbia in Washington D.C. She will go on to represent the USA at Miss World 2015 in Sanya, China this December. Miss Nebraska, Teresa Scanlan, who was the favorite to win the title, came in 1st Runner-up. Miss Texas followed her as 2nd Runner-up, Miss Louisiana as 3rd Runner-up and Miss Virginia as 4th Runner-up.
