Flash back to 1983.

The Rubik’s Cube was a must-have, children craved Cabbage Patch Kids, and iPods were a thing of the future; the big fad at the time was a battery-operated Boom Box.

Speaking of boxes, in 1983, Ocean Spray introduced the very first “juice box," and you didn’t look cool without rocking neon, high-tops, or slap bracelets.

However, one of the biggest 80’s staples was the music.

“I just love 80’s Hair Rock,” said MetalHead’s bass player, John Colby.

John Colby says 80’s Hair Rock is the greatest music of all time, and Colby is keeping the trend alive.

If you’ve lived in the Valley for a while, you’ve most likely heard of his cover-band, MetalHead.  The four-person posse takes fans on a trip back in time, jamming to classics from Def Leopard and ACDC.

“I’ve always wanted to play that kind of music,” said Colby.

When John Colby performs, he does not go by John.

He transforms into “Steele Wullf,” his stage name and so-called alter-ego, and he dresses the part.  Colby sports man-liner make-up and wears custom-made costumes.  His 80’s-inspired ensemble consists of wigs, chains, and loads of leather; a get-up resembling his favorite band.
