Senior Brown Tabby Seeks Loving Home to Continue Health Journey

At 24 pounds of pure handsomeness, it is a wonder how Hummus either slipped out of his previous home or was able to sustain his weight as a stray on the streets of Phoenix. Regardless of his previous circumstances, the eight-year-old brown tabby found himself in the care of the Arizona Humane Society in late June of this year as a sick stray in need of help.

Upon examination in the shelter's trauma hospital, Hummus was not only found to be suffering from a kitty cold but was also a nine out of nine on the body condition score used by veterinarians to evaluate a pet's body composition. While he is still considered quite obese, the gorgeous kitty has already lost a little over two pounds while in the shelter's care and hopes to find a forever family that helps him continue getting to a healthier weight.

Those who know Hummus say he loves getting attention from people and prefers finding a quiet spot to sunbathe when he is not getting pets. Friendly and sweet, the senior feline knows there is the perfect home for him where he can live out his golden years while getting into golden shape!

Happy Hummus' adoption fee includes his neuter surgery, current vaccinations, a microchip, and a follow-up wellness exam with a VCA Animal Hospital. Visit this sweet boy at AHS’ Papago Park Campus or learn more at azhumane.org/adopt to give him the loving forever home he deserves.
