Décor

Nothing is more memorable in the Valley than tons of white, fluffy snow. Arizona Iceman (www.arizonaiceman.com) used real ice and snow blowers to turn a residential front yard into a winter wonderland. After building snowmen and having snowball fights, the party was moved to the backyard for food, dessert and more fun. To maintain the theme and atmosphere of a winter wonderland, the ground was covered with yards of white batting while 20 white holiday trees with glowing white lights were scattered throughout the space. And as the sun set, the simplicity of the white-on-white look, with the twinkling lights, really took guests to the North Pole.

Activities

The kids played in the snow for two hours, all the while a photographer snapped family photos for each guest to take home. In addition, snowman-making kits were doled out and Santa’s little elves passed out hot chocolate. After pizza, the guests enjoyed a horse-drawn hay ride to marvel at the holiday lights and décor in the neighborhood. For a party that is filled with such wonderful, must-see elements, it’s important to let guests know the start and end time on the invitation. This type of party could last upwards of four hours or more. It’s a good way to let people know they will have time to enjoy every detail.

Food & Drink

Kids sat on simple white chairs at white tables to nibble on pizza and snowman cupcakes (see sidebar for instructions). For this party, pizza was purchased at Costco. You can also do hot dogs with “chilly” to keep with the theme. Especially for children who love pizza, it’s not important to provide expensive food. It’s about the experience and the memories.

Favors

To end the evening, each child was sent home with a bright red holiday gift bag filled with goodies. It was the perfect story-book ending to a holiday celebration—a story that can become yours with a little time and creativity.
