For Chrissy, a junior from Surprise, the evening marked a poignant milestone. Just weeks earlier, she rang the ceremonial bell that signified the end of her chemotherapy treatments - a battle she had fought since her sophomore year. Sadiya, who calls South Phoenix home, returned from her part-time residence in Nova Scotia just in time for the big event. Her journey to the dance floor had been more literal, but no less significant. Prom offered a moment to reconnect, to dance, and to honor a period of hard work and transition.

On May 19, students walked the stage at Arizona State University to receive their diplomas from ASU Prep Digital. Chrissy, graduating a full year early, defied the odds with her academic tenacity despite her health challenges. Sadiya, a senior, celebrated the culmination of her high school journey as she prepared to begin her next chapter as a student at ASU in the fall.
