The spirit of Thanksgiving will shine brightly in South Phoenix this year as the HeroZona Foundation prepares to host its 22nd annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway Drive-Thru on November 22. Beginning at 9 a.m. at Travis L. Williams Post 65, the event will provide frozen turkeys to individuals and families in need, continuing a tradition that has supported the community for more than two decades.

Mercy Care has awarded Fundamental Needs a 2025 Mercy C.A.R.E.S. Community Reinvestment Grant totaling $50,000 to support The Oasis Project, an initiative bringing running water and new opportunities to families across the Navajo Nation. The program not only installs solar-powered water systems in remote homes but also provides paid, hands-on training for high school students who help build and install the systems themselves.

In Arizona, where one in four families are led by single mothers and nearly half of new moms skip critical postpartum checkups due to barriers like childcare, transportation, and cost, two local nonprofits are rewriting the narrative. Mother’s Grace and Hope Women’s Center have joined forces to help women move from crisis to confidence, and from survival to resilience.

More than 550 community leaders, advocates, and supporters came together on October 2 for AllThrive 365’s seventh annual Community Breakfast, raising over $325,000 to support aging adults and caregivers throughout Arizona.
