Happy Father’s Day

mikespencer

Everyone in the world has a talent. We all work hard at that one thing that makes us stand out. That can be anything, like being a doctor, attorney, art director, real estate agent, athlete, musician or an amazing chef. That is something we have been working at and inspired to be when we were very young. It is funny that this comes naturally to us, and we excel at this and it makes us happy. This is who we are and what we do shows the type of person we are. There is no right or wrong; it is what we are meant to do in life, and that is awesome.

Then, children come into our lives, and they are a game-changer. I believe there are some men and women who always envisioned having children and being a stay-at-home parent. This does not mean cleaning houses and cooking; it is managing the future of our society. Today, there are camps, classes, play dates, cleaners, doctor appointments, Halloween costumes, Scouts meetings, tennis, swim, soccer and family time. I respect someone that can manage a large family more than ever after experiencing this firsthand recently. It is so much more than the list I shared; it is being there for your children, inspiring and disciplining them. Most importantly, it is time and love. I recently met an incredible mother with four amazing children all under the age of 7. I see what it takes and that when love is there, anything can happen and does. This woman is truly an inspiration to anyone—married or divorced—with children and has taught me that anything is possible.

Being a parent is the biggest responsibility we have, and we learn as we go how to be a better parent and that is our mark on the world. It is not how much money we make or what we sold, built, cooked. It is being there and providing inspiration and support, along with guidance. It is what we are as humans, and I am so thankful to be a dad and surround myself with wonderful people that love kids and that I can learn from every day. I love my son more than anything. (As promised, we are featured in the magazine, son! You’ve been asking for many years, so we did it. I love you so much and forever. I promise I will continue to learn from amazing people to become a better dad and lead by example.) I thank that wonderful woman who has inspired me, I love you along with all my friends who make me a better person.

Happy Father’s Day!
