Join Scottsdale’s elite mile-high club…

…did I get your intention?

Ok, it’s not that kind of club, but you’ll surely reach great heights taking flight on this Valley adventure.

“It’s like riding around on a magic carpet,” said Ryan Shugrue, Zoni native and helicopter pilot.

Imagine skipping the cliché dinner and movie; instead, taking a sunset flight with your sweetheart as you gaze at city lights from the sky.  That’s what you’ll get if your guy treats you on the ultimate night out, courtesy of Scottsdale Helicopter Services.

“We provide flight training and Valley tours,” he said.

Ryan Shugrue is one of the trained flying pros that will host your unique helo experience.  At 18, he kicked off his high-flying career, but then put it on hold to enter the corporate world.  However, in 2008, Shugrue ditched his 9-5 and returned to the friendly skies.  That’s when he joined Scottsdale Helicopter Services, the Valley’s go-to hub for everything helo.

“I love what I do.”

He spends his days airborne leading Valley tours, taking you inside his personal magic carpet overlooking downtown, local lakes, and even University of Phoenix Stadium.

The helicopters seat up to 3 people and the tours range from $300-$550; however, if money grows on trees in your neck of the woods, arrive to Sin City or Sedona in style.

“We do offer pay-by-the-hour rides, but we must book them in advance.”

That will run you $550 an hour.

However, if you prefer the driver’s seat, Shugrue says he can get you a license to fly…for a price.  First, you’ll kick things off with an introductory flight, where you’ll get a feel for the controls.  The 30-minute crash course costs $125, and at the conclusion, you can decide whether you want to opt for the complete $12,000+ training program.  The program demands 40+ hours of air time, in addition to Helo 101 ground classes.  Once you fulfill all the FAA requirements, you’ll need to take an essay, oral, and flight test—and if you pass with flying colors, you’ll walk away with your very own license.

“It’s not as easy as it looks; maneuvering a helicopter is like trying to balance a unicycle on a basketball.”

That’s why many of us are just fine riding passenger.

It’s an A-list mile-high club that will surely flaunt your wild side in a whole new way—giving your woman one climax she’s sure to never forget.
