In Charles Gounod’s opera “Faust,” a man’s thirst for youthful passion leads him to sell his soul to the devil in exchange for earthy pleasure.
This month, Arizona Opera transports “Faust” from 16th-century Germany to the present day in a bold new production directed by Bernard Uzan. State-of-the-art scenic projections and stark dramatic sets help to reimagine this classic legend in modern times. (Settings include an urban nightclub – with break dancers!)
An all-star cast, led by bass-baritone Greer Grimsley as Mephistopheles, adds further excitement to the Nov. 11-13 performances at Phoenix’s Symphony Hall. A ticket to these performances just might be hotter than Hades.
