Cross-Country Bike Ride for Phoenix Children's Hospital
Like many youngsters, this summer, Valley brothers Ethan and Reid will be hitting the open road. However, the brothers are traveling cross country on bike to raise funds for Phoenix Children's Hospital. At age three, Ethan was diagnosed with a rare blood disease, Essential thrombocytosis; he was diagnosed at PCH and thanks to continuing care from the hospital, he hasn't suffered any major issues due to the disease.

America's Most-Attended Polo Event Expands for 2013

The Valley's third annual Scottsdale Polo Championships: Horses & Horsepower will return for a two-day event on Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2. This year's event will feature fashion shows and match-ups between the University of Virginia, the country's 2012 college champions, and Work to Ride, America's high school champions. Other contenders will include the Women's All-Star Team, The Arizona Polo Club, the U.S. Military Polo Team and the Clogau Wales Polo Team. New Stores to Open in Scottsdale
Scottsdale is becoming even more of a shopping mecca as Scottsdale Quarter and Scottsdale Fashion Square each welcome a new store this summer--including a first-to-market favorite. Today, Urban Outfitters opened its doors at Scottsdale Quarter (this opening marks the second Urban Outfitters in Scottsdale). Johnny Was, a specialty women’s clothing collection, will open its sixth store--first outside of California--at Scottsdale Fashion Square in June.
Scottsdale's Newest Attraction Hosts Photo Contest
Scottsdale's newest family attraction--Butterfly Wonderland slated to open May 25--has a unique opportunity for locals that could result in cash prizes. Through May 20, Butterfly Wonderland is asking amateur Arizonan photographers, ages eight and up, to snap photos of butterflies that they might spy in their backyard, during nature walks or while out on hikes, for example. Files must be in submitted in JPG format. Any aspect ratio is acceptable, but please size the file so that the longest dimension is 800 pixels and set the quality to “high.” Submissions will be judged on Friday, May 24.
