Meet local artist and photographer Jim Bochenek, who captures breathtaking images from around the valley with a subtle simplicity and excellent technique.
Bochenek work centers on combining composition and symmetry with subtle yet sophisticated enhancement in a wide variety of genres and subject matter. His work is inspired by the diverse and beautiful scenery of Arizona combined with his passion for traveling, hiking and exploring our environment. Through his travels he has had the pleasure of capturing stunning sunrises, picture perfect landscapes, mystical animals, and talented athletes.
Bochenek received his degree from Arizona State University and is a proclaimed self-taught artist who has been pursuing his love of photography from a young age. After college his passion for photography was reignited, beginning with a simple Pentax camera and classic Kodak film, he attempted to capture streaks of lightning from his back patio. Driven by the chase of the perfect shot he continues to perfect his skills as a photographer while capturing the ephemeral impact of each scene he encounters.
Only in the last few years has Bochenek begun to exhibit his work, having the opportunity to show at a few venues around the valley including: Capture12 Gallery, the Inaugural ArtWalk in Douglas Arizona, Arizona State University’s Gammage Auditorium and most recently debuted his work “Discovering Arizona” at Bokeh Gallery in the MonOrchid. This exhibition was well received featuring his latest series of work examining nature and exploring the diverse landscape of Arizona. Bochenek’s photography has been featured in local publications both online and in print including Phoenix New Times, AZCulture.com and YabYum Music & Arts.
Currently Bochenek is busy traveling and creating new work and hopes to exhibit his work later this year.
