Meet self-taught artist Holly Anderson, a skilled painter creating incredible contemporary abstract works of art.
She favors to create with acrylic on canvas then is able to offer her beautiful imagery in additional products such as prints, phone cases, bags and a variety of home décor products. Anderson currently resides in Phoenix where she is a prominent member of the art community. In addition to her artwork she is also the Artistic Director for AZ Culture, the featured Artisan on Houzz, as well as volunteer for several wonderful charities that are near and dear to her heart.
Art has always been apart of her life but in March of 2011 after recovering from several surgeries due to her debilitating muscular skeletal disease, she began creating art full-time. There is a beautiful use if texture, light, and movement within her canvas highlighting fluency and emotion with her love of abstraction. Anderson draws her inspiration from the Arts, human emotion, water, and theories of astronomer, astrophysicist, and cosmologist and author, Carl Sagan.
Anderson’s work has been featured in both private and public collections worldwide in addition to exhibitions in numerous galleries around the valley. She has exhibited in solo, group, and collaborative projects at a variety of venues including {9} The Gallery, Frontal Lobe Gallery, the lodge, and most recently this past May with ARTELPHX at the Clarendon Hotel where she recently collaborated with artist, Rafael Navarro creating “Transformation”, a room filled with thousands of paper butterflies, centering on a meditative figure place on a bed in the center of the room lite up with black lights.
Currently Anderson has three dazzling paintings featured in a group exhibition titled “TEN: Modern Abstract” displayed in Shade Gallery at the monOrchid. This exhibition focuses on artwork that explores shape, form, color and line creating compositions independent for traditional visual references. Experience Anderson’s work for yourself this Thursday, November 19th, 2015 at the monOrchid where the closing artist reception is being hosted from 6-10pm, giving you the opportunity to meet this lovely artist.
