Local Tucson artist Diana Madaras is known for her bold, colorful artwork as well as her generous charitable giving. As Tucson’s Best Visual Artist of 2004, 2005, 2008, and 2009, Miraval Resort is proud to present her as a Miraval Artist in Residence.
Madaras is the proprietor of the Madaras Gallery in Tucson, which holds a superb collection of Southwest art, from acrylic and watercolor paintings to prints. She owns two local galleries total that feature her work exclusively. She is also the president of the nonprofit Art for Animals Foundation. This charity, which she founded in 1999 to help abused, injured, and orphaned animals, is dear to Madaras.
Her accomplishments, however, do not stop there. She was named featured artist of the Empire Ranch 100 show in 2009, she has been written about in dozens of newspaper and magazine articles, she has been featured on shows by NBC, CBS, and PBS, and she is a signature member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild with work hung in the Tucson Museum of Art.
Madaras’ beautiful works of art coupled with her charitable nature make her the perfect candidate for a featured artist. She has benefited more than 100 charities with her work, and is active in the community.
Painting in both watercolor and acrylic, Madaras has a diverse range of work from desert landscapes to expressionistic portraits. She understands and celebrates the subtle, natural beauty of ordinary scenes.
Madaras will be the first local artist to become a Miraval Artist in Residence. She will also be featuring two workshops: Masterpiece Made Easy and Creating a Mandala. In the workshops, guests will have the ability to create their own masterpieces and take them home. Guests can view artwork, purchase works, and participate in her workshops through Miraval Resort & Spa.
