The seventh annual Gootter Grand Slam weekend will be held on March 24 and 25 at the Skyline Country Club in Tucson. The annual two-day event benefits the Steven M. Gootter Foundation, which helps to prevent and treat sudden cardiac death at the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center.

The foundation has also donated several automated external defibrillators to public and private schools in Southern Arizona. Today, over 40 AED’s have been placed around Southern Arizona to help its schools.

The event begins with a gala Saturday evening at the Skyline Country Club. Later, the evening will feature dinner, a live auction, and musical entertainment by Genvieve and the LPs. Tickets for this event are $150 per person.

Sunday’s festivities include a Gootter Grand Slam tennis event, which begins at Reffkin Tennis Center at 8:30 a.m. Doubles and local player tournaments, will follow at 9 a.m. The excitement begins at noon, when a professional tournament featuring Murphy Jenson, Mikael Pernfors, and UA football coach Rich Rodriguez will battle it out.

The event will also feature a health and wellness fair, food, beverages, and live music. Award presentations will also be held. Participants can enter the tournament for $75 per person. To attend the event, tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for teens, and $50 for a family of four.

The educational and beneficial event provides a fun, easy weekend for the whole family. Whether you want to participate in the tournament, walk around the fair, or attend the classic gala dinner, the event will mesh fun and charity for all guests.
