HomeTucsonDining › Happy Anniversary to Tucson’s Jax Kitchen!

It seems that over the past year or two, restaurant and shop closings have become the norm. Finally, we have a reason to celebrate success! Jax Kitchen, which opened last August on the northeast corner or Ina and Oracle (and has already become one of Tucson’s favorite restaurants), is celebrating their one-year anniversary this month. There’s only one week left in August, so be sure you plan a visit to Jax Kitchen before the week is over for a stellar deal and special menu items.

The restaurant’s success probably stems from the fact that both owners, Brian and Sandy Metzger, are completely focused on the four aspects that make a restaurant a success: food, environment, attitude and atmosphere. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that their food philosophy is totally unique. Jax Kitchen specializes in comfort food with a distinct European twist. The dinner menu is conveniently divided into European-style courses, including first course, second course, main course, meals for two, and various sides. Some of the standout menu items include the steamed mussels and fries from the first course, the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin for the main course and the whole natural chicken for two.

In honor of Jax Kitchen’s anniversary, the restaurant will be offering their three most popular menu items from the original Jax Kitchen menu through Aug. 31, which is next Monday. These limited time, favorite dishes will include the Warm Baked Goat Cheese with Mediterranean Tapenade and Crostini, the Boston Bibb Salad with Pistachio Vinaigrette and Brioche Croutons, and the famous jax Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup, which has proven to be the most requested menu item year round. In addition to the extra menu items, Jax Kitchen had also added 13 boutique wine selections to the wine list, many of which are only produced in a limited quantity, making them rare restaurant finds. One to try is a Merlot/Cabernet blend, the 2005 HdV Belle Cousine, Los Carneros, Napa Valley.

As if you still need another reason to make Jax Kitchen your Friday-night dinner date spot this week, through the end of the month the restaurant is offering a 20 percent discount on all food and beverages. To redeem this exceptional offer, you may print out a special birthday coupon (found on the home page of the Jax Kitchen Web site), and bring it in through Aug. 31.

If you can’t make it to Jax Kitchen this week for the extra items and special deals, don’t worry. You’ll have plenty more opportunities to visit, as the eatery will begin offering lunch yet again starting on Oct. 1. Lunch hours will be between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., and will feature a menu packed full of old favorites as well as brand new dishes.

Currently, Jax Kitchen is open for dinner, Tuesday through Sunday, from 5 p.m. until close. For reservations, call 520.219.1235, and for more information or to print out a special birthday coupon, visit JaxKitchen.com.
