Fan & Reader Questions

AFM: You have great hair. Why hide it under your bandana?
BM: First of all thank you, I appreciate that. But the bandana is my signature; it’s like superman and his cape… I always wear it. I feel naked without it- or at least I don’t feel very much like myself.

AFM: How do you feel about Donald Trump's current political escapades?
BM: Donald is great and we really formed a great friendship. He’s everything you think and more- a very powerful and inspiring man. I would vote for him.

AFM: What are your top five favorite songs?
BM: One of my all time favorites is "Sweet Home Alabama." I love Lynyrd Skynyrd and whenever that song comes on, I've gotta jam out. "You Shook Me All Night Long" by ACDC always gets me ready to party, so I definitely gotta put that on the list. When it comes to more current artists, I think "Tonight" by Daughtry always gets me in a good mood and "Photograph" by Nickleback is a more reflective one. I'm a huge country fan as well, so I'd close out the list with Kenny Chesney, "Anything But Mine."

AFM: What do you do for fun?
BM: Anything active. I grew up playing football and baseball and I’ve been really into supercross since I was a little kid. I actually just created the Bret Michaels Rock Hard, Ride Hard Award for motocross which will be a cash prize for the toughest and most tenacious rider of the season. I’ve been riding bikes for as long as I can remember and I still ride whenever I get the chance; I’ve always admired the grit and the fearlessness of motocross riders and those are traits I try to live out in my own life. The award will actually be presented in Vegas on May 7th so be sure to come check it out because it’s going to be a great event for all the supercross and motocross fans out there.

AFM: Do you ever hear from the Rock Of Love ladies?
BM: We had three really fun seasons and it was a blast. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, but the girls- they were the real stars of the show. Rock of Love, I think actually made me grateful that reality dating shows don’t work- because, look, I have this incredible family now and I’m engaged to Kristi, the love of my life and the mother of my gorgeous daughters and none of that came from a dating show.

AFM: What kind of hair product did you use in your Poison days?
BM: Hairspray. Lots of hairspray.

AFM: What's something surprising on your playlist at home?
BM: I grew up on real old country like Hank Williams Sr. and I’ve always, always loved country as a genre. I definitely grew into the hard rock that I’m most associated with, but I listen to a pretty wide variety of music. I’m a huge fan of the production in club music, for example- they really span the whole board with sounds and beats and bottom end. I genuinely love all kinds of music and I’m fortunate enough to be an independent artist and to have the freedom to experiment with my sound.
