Celebs are sporting their savvy, fatherly style; what one local expert calls, "The Modern Man."  In honor of Dad's Day, check out how men are becoming more and more like Mr. Multi-Talented Mom.

Brad…Will…Johnny…Ben—all A-list modern men.  Yes, we’re honoring dad by celebrating how the male species has evolved into a more caring, considerate, cooperative group of guys, according to Dr. Lilia Romero-Bosch, Adult and Child Psychiatrist.

“The ‘Leave it to Beaver’ days are a thing of the past,” said the Valley’s Dr. Lilia Romero-Bosch.

The psychiatrist co-runs Scottsdale’s Illuminar Therapy, where she specializes in functional and integrative techniques to achieve mental and emotional wellness.  She says 2011 is the year of the modern dad—someone who is savvy, stylish, and more pro-active.

“Men are still providers, but there’s a new position to what a provider is,” she said.

She says celebs are setting the stage; providing financially and emotionally in a way they didn’t used to.  Take Will Smith, for example.  The doctor says the celeb is a classic example of an A-list dad.

“He’s super kid-friendly, in love with his family, and has a hot, confident composure.”

The modern man maintains a handful of qualities…he’s masculine, successful in his job, involved in the family, and supportive of his spouse; honoring her professional ambition.  Dr. Romero-Bosch says you can bid farewell to fair-weather boys…this type of guy is the new-age epitome of a real man.

“While dads used to be all work, work, work; they’re now stepping into the woman’s realm.”

Yep, move over mama—daddy’s got things under control.

Dr. Romero-Bosch says many women she sees complain their hubby isn’t helpful around the house; however, the modern man is changing that stigma.  In fact, she says many guys are getting in touch with their feminine side, being more nurturing and kind.

“Guys are contributing more towards the household.”

And women are loving it.

The doctor says gals watching their guys in fatherly action get their juices flowing.  She explains that wives witnessing their hubbys care for the kids result in her release of oxytocin, the passion-filled hormone.  (FYI men, that increases a girl’s sexual arousal.)

“Express your gratitude.  Show him you appreciate his helpful gestures by giving him verbal praise and affection.”

And society is applauding the modern man; just look at how companies are embracing the new-age male.  Many businesses are dedicated to dads; you can now purchase guy-friendly baby gear and attend daddy yoga.

“There’s a better balance between both parents.”

That’s why this Father’s Day is the perfect time to toast to your modern man—cheers to you, Mr. Multi-Talented Mom.
