After checking out the wallaby, bring your baby to see the Zoo’s newest addition—this one, sporting black and white stripes.

This 2-week old cutie is the first zebra born at the Zoo in many years.

“It” is believed to be a “she,” and for now, remains nameless.

“She” was born a big girl—20-30 pounds, and lives in an exhibit with mom.

Dr. Stafford says zebras are strict grazers, eating grass for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  In the wild, they migrate through Africa following the rain, and use their stripes to confuse carnivores.

“The stripes help them blend because many predators are color blind.  It’s a nice way to camouflage.”

They’re not known to be the nicest of animals—actually, they have quite a violent streak.  Dr. Stafford says they like to pick fights.

But your date at the zoo is sure to be fight-free, especially if you top it off at Tiburon—a restaurant and bar.

After a long day, sit back, relax, and have a cocktail (or two) while enjoying an aquatic atmosphere of flamingos, sharks, and sting rays.

You’ll definitely be due for a cheers with your sweetheart...here’s to you and your baby.
