AFM: Besides the fact that they are man’s most adorable furry friend, what was the idea behind using dogs to tell this story? Do you have an adorable pup?

KS: “Using my own dog, Kona, as the inspiration for the character development was easy for me. She is the gentlest and most loving dog. She loves making new friends (human and canine) and children love to meet her. It’s also fun for me to do readings for children and answer their funny questions about her.”

 AFM: What do you hope is the message that people will take away from this book?

 KS: “The message I hope people take away from the book is that everyone is unique and when we take the time to get to know someone, we find that we are always stronger together (like a pack of puppies) than alone.”
