Tis the season for lights, garland, and trees! Whether you go big or try to stay under the radar, nearly 92% of Americans celebrate Christmas (according to the Pew Research Center survey.) Therefor, mostly everyone we know is decking the halls in some way. Recently, I looked around my home and realized nearly all of my holiday decor was from The Home Depot. (So much so, I should look into company stock.) Inside we had a Noble Fir, shatter proof ornaments, fireplace stocking holders, garland, etc. Outside we have lights, wreaths, and inflatable decorations like Olaf and a Christmas tree - you get the idea. With this in mind, I decided to go straight to the source to officially determine the top holiday trends in holiday home decor!
Sarah Fishburne, Director of Trend and Design at The Home Depot, has relayed to us the top 5 trends in holiday decor. (You’re welcome.)
1. Metallic Palettes - Play with metallics like gold and silver to add a warm and festive look. Metallics are great because they can work all winter long – even after the holidays have passed.
Sarah’s Fave Product: Home Accents Holiday 80 mm Shatterproof Ornament in Silver (12-Count), $7.98
Why We Love It: Silver and sparkles? Say no more!
2. Monochromatic Palettes - Palettes that are more monochromatic, layering of reds in multiple hues from bright classic red to deep rich reds paired with silvers, whites and pewters make wonderful decorations for the home.
Sarah’s Fave Product: 2.3 in. Pepperberry Lane Shatter-Resistant Ornament (101-Count), $29.98
Why We Love It: We do hate chasing our kids around the tree as they hold our favorite glass ornaments! Plus there are absolutely gorgeous!
3. Natural and Texture - We continue to see texture being incorporated into holiday decorating from velvets, to silk, burlap, knits, even junkier glitters that not only add more visual appeal but also a more tactile experience. The Woodmore wreath from Home Accents Holiday is a great example.
Sarah’s Fave Product: 32 in. Pre-Lit Woodmoore Tales Artificial Christmas Wreath, $59.98
Why We Love It: DIY wreaths are out, and the mixture of textures is so on-point!
4. Lap Dogs - We love our pets and dog pieces have become very popular.
Sarah’s Fave Product: Home Accents Holiday 24 in. Pre-Lit Fluffy Dog, $41.99
Why We Love It: It’s no secret that dogs are legitimate parts of the family nowadays!
5. LightShow ColorMotion Clip Lights - Each year lighting gets better and more innovative. This year the coolest lights are the LightShow clip lights. The clip is already included into the light string, which makes it so much easier to put your lights up around the house.
Sarah’s Fave Product: 20-Light ColorMotion ClipLights C9 White Light String, $27.98 or the LightShow 20-Light ColorMotion ClipLights C9 (Multi) Light String, $39.98
Why We Love It: This will surely help eliminate the complaints of husbands everywhere! ( Hanging from a ladder isn’t that hard, is it?)
Happy holiday decorating!
