It seems that our lives get busier everyday, and sometimes that means less quality time with our kids. For children, the early years are vital in determining future behavior and success. A local program, launched this past June, offers professional education services to both children and parents to make things a little easier.

Education Expertise Comes Home works with families to support school and home achievements through coaching, school observation and specialized classes. The program was started by Kari Kling who has over 25 years experience in education, and has a passion for supporting children’s academic and behavioral growth. After working as a classroom teacher, national education coach/consultant and education author she left the professional world to take care of her twin boys. After speaking with other parents she realized there was a desire to have information about brain development and learning for their children. She decided to use her knowledge and experience to create the program and give parents an opportunity to be pro-active in their children’s education.

Education Expertise Comes Home offers “Mrs. Kling’s Math Mania” week-long summer camps and after-school classes geared towards children in 2nd and 3rd grade. These programs increase children’s math abilities and confidence through game playing, pattern play and number exploration. Kling makes math fun and engaging while teaching addition, subtraction, graphing, estimation, multiplication and story problems. Registration for the January 2010 session of "Mrs. Kling's Math Mania" has now begun. Classes will be held from 3:15-4:30 on Thursdays at their downtown Scottsdale location.

In addition, there are classes for parents which give them the tools and understanding they need to support their children’s academic and behavioral growth. “Kling’s Parent University” covers various topics and gives parents strategies and materials to expand their children’s minds and experiences.

Kling is also available to meet with individual parents and families to offer support in areas related to academics, behavior, and cognitive strategies. Other possible topics that can be addressed include positive discipline, family communication and organization and decreasing sibling rivalry.
