Currently, the nation is experiencing a severe blood donation shortage as the demand increases. The nonprofit organization, Vitalant, has less than a needed 4-day supply of most blood types and below a 2-day supply of type O blood to meet patient needs at a moment’s notice.
Scottsdale Quarter has partnered with Vitalant to host an urgent blood drive donation event Tuesday, July 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The bloodmobile will be parked in the loading zone next to Design Within Reach. To register, visit the donor page at vitalant.com and enter the sponsor code: ScottsdaleQtr.
All types of blood are needed, but especially type O blood donations – the most transfused blood type. Type O is what’s often used in trauma situations, especially type O negative, because it can be transfused to patients with any blood type in an emergency room setting.
