The Great Indoors; Children’s Museum of Phoenix
In greener parts of the country, the art of tree climbing as a child is often a classic and treasured pastime. Here in the desert however, suitable trees are few and far between, namely due to the dominance of cacti (one word-thorns), and that’s where The Children’s Museum of Phoenix steps in.
New Children's Hospital Named After Mesa Family
The new Banner Health Children's Medical Center was named May 20 after the Cardons, a Mesa family who made a $10 million contribution last fall to the $356 million expansion. The Cardon Children's Medical Center will be the newest hospital in the Banner Health family, and a huge development in pediatric care in Arizona. The family’s generous gift, officially gifted by Wilford Allen and Phyllis Reneer Cardon, is the largest contribution to date to the nonprofit Banner Health Foundation and is one of the largest gifts ever to children’s healthcare in Arizona.

People Acting Now Discover Answers—an Arizona-based organization that
supports treatment for childhood diseases—aspires to raise $1 million in two
years to build a comprehensive Children’s Neurological Center at the Arizona
Health Sciences Center Campus in Tucson. For one of PANDA’s co-founders,
this center touches close to home.
Showhouse Gives Back
Each weekend in the month of April, tour the Arizona Foothills Magazine Designer Showhouse—a modern-day mansion, with each room decorated by respected Valley interior designers. The best part is, all proceeds will benefit four local charities.
Old West Ambassadors
Arizona’s Wild West heritage is a compelling part of its history, but equally fascinating is the community pride and unity it ignites. Here’s a group that will get you up in the saddle and shouting a “yeehaw” before the day is done.
