March means beautiful weather and the return of Artlink Phoenix's Art Detour, highlighting a wonderful weekend long celebration of the arts in Downtown Phoenix!

The weekend will feature many activities that are planned for Art Detour 28 including a diverse selection of amazing art exhibitions, open studios, live painting, bike and walking tours, hands-on kids’ activities, amazing food trucks, local music and so much more. Visitors be sure to pick uo an Art Detour map to take a self-guided tour of artist studios, galleries, and other venues, plus performances and activities. Artlink Phoenix and its partners host this year’s Art Detour 28, producing an incredible weekend of the arts happening this Saturday, March 19th and Sunday March 20th from 11am until 5:00pm.

Artlink will offer free circulating Trolley services (two routes) that will get patrons around downtown to all the hot spots, no need to worry about parking! There are five Park-and-Ride Hubs located at: Phoenix Art Museum, Heard Museum, Oasis on Grand, CityScape, and the Arizona Center offering docents and maps to guide you through Art Detour 28! Also at the five hubs Artlink is featuring “Kids’ Detour” offering family-friendly activities, sponsored by the David Wright House and Opportunity 4 Kids.

Eye Lounge Art Gallery presenting In Sight: An Ekphrastic Collaboration Between eye lounge and Four Chambers, a collaborative group exhibition highlighting both eyelounge members and four chambers press members who where pair together last year with aurthors’ producing original literary responses to the artists' work. Phoenix Institute of Contemporary Art (phICA) is featuring two wonderful new exhibitions in two shipping containers, including Cella, the solo exhibition of Monica Aissa Martinez. Next door is the solo exhibition titled Onloaded: Carolyn Lavender/Progression who is debuting new work.

The monOrchid is showcasing two exhibitions, in Shade Gallery featuring “The real Nitty Gritty” group exhibition highlighting some of the greats in graffiti art. Bokeh Gallery features Bokeh Gallery is showcasing renowned photographer, Wayne Rainey with his new body of work “The Passenger”. Both exhibitions are great for the whole family, plus they will have a kid’s craft and coloring area set up for all to enjoy and get hands on!

Chartreuse Art Gallery presents the 9th Annual Mutant Piñata Show will take place the month of March, featuring piñatas created from traditional and non-traditional materials curated by Beatrice Moore. Grand Art-Haus is debuting this weekend, a new co-working space and art collective, owned by Laura Dragon, Robert Gentile and Michael Viglietta will be hosting a preview of the space, including artist demonstrations and artwork on display.
