Have you been to the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) lately? Come explore the many cultures of our beautiful world through music.

Time to head to the incredible global musical instrument museum, currently displaying over 360 exhibits throughout the museum, representing every nation on earth with more than 6,000 instruments collected from around 200 countries and territories from around the world. “The museum’s collection of more than 15,000 instruments and artifacts was acquired in the geographic and cultural regions where these instruments are played and have the most cultural relevance”, states the MIM.

The MIM focus is on five major global regions: Africa and the Middle East, Asia and Oceania, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the United States and Canada in their Geographic Galleries. Most displays feature amazing state-of-the-art audio and video, giving visitors the ability to see, hear and observe the instrument, in their proper context.  The Artist Gallery showcases music icons ranging from Elvis Presley to Taylor Swift, including their instruments, costumes, and video footage of them performing on stage. Also explore and play in the Experience Gallery where all guests can play a variety of instruments from around the world.

Don’t miss seeing there latest traveling exhibition “Beyond the Beat: Drums Of The World” which is on display now until October 11th, 2015.  Focusing on the importance of drums and how the enduring importance they have had within human life including more than one hundred drums from forty-five countries. There is an additional cost for this special exhibition priced at just $7 with museum admission and $10 for this exhibition only.

Plus march your calendars for the perfect family outing at the second annual MIM Fest 2015 happening November 7-8, 2015! They are hosting their 2nd annual global music festival, featuring more than a dozen distinguished performers on three stages, delicious food from local food trucks and fun activities for guests of all ages. The family-friendly festival will bring together more than 20 extraordinary local, national, and international musical acts and entertainers as well as 12 food trucks serving global fare.

The Musical Instrument Museum is located at 4725 E. Mayo Boulevard in Phoenix (corner of Tatum and Mayo Boulevards, just south of Loop 101). The museum is open daily 9-5pm with admission prices ranging general adult $20, Teens (13-19) $15, Children (4-12) are $10 and Children (3 and under) are free.
