Head downtown to ARTELPHX4 held at the Clarendon Hotel and Spa for an exciting multimedia art experience bringing together the visual and performance art worlds in the latest installment of the ARTELSHOW.

Visitors are invited to explore and discover intriguing art installations, dance performances, and more, emerging them in the art experience, activating the entire hotel utilizing hotel rooms, roof top bar as well as the hotel’s pool. This stimulating three-day event kicked off last night with a special VIP viewing and runs from 7-10pm Friday, May 15th and Saturday, May 16 th. This is the fourth time founder and director Tara Sharpe has put on ARTELPHX, presenting a truly one of a kind art event as she continues to bring a brilliant selection of art and performances, pushing the bar for the Arizona art scene not to mention bringing in a new audience to experience our local arts with ARTELPHX4. Also Artelphx has begun expanding and taking on a new moniker ARTELSHOW with hopes of incorporating national and international artists and reaching a boarder audience beyond Phoenix.

ARTELSHOW presents ARTELPHX4 featuring an exciting group of new and returning artists including Leslie Barton + Steve Weiss, Matthew Briggs + Garrett Johnson + Muharrem Yildirim, Alyssa Brown, Peter Bugg, Sondra Carr, Angel Castro / Halo Movement Collective, CONDER / dance, Ryan Donovan – Schager, Daniel Funkhouser, Liliana Gomez + Kenny Barrett, Dain Quentin Gore, Valyntina Grenier, Lauren Sarah Hayes, Liz Ann Hewett, Tyler Hooten, Leilani Hudson + Christian Adame + Jelena Milesic, Mark Hughes + Katharine Leigh Simpson, Candy Jimenez / Dulce Dance, Nathaniel Lewis, Brian Maxwell, Matthew Mosher, Rafael Navarro + Holly Anderson, Rachelle Olsen – Veal, Jacki Orr, Christopher “Boats” Oshana, Lara Plecas, Unicorn Warpath, Jen Urso and Danielle Wood.

Upon entering the massive ARTELPHX4 experience visitors were greeted by a beautiful ceramic installation by Lara Plecas adjacent to a wall made of abstracted tabloids created by Peter Bugg. A few highlights of the event included a projection onto the hotel titled Birdfish that was simply stunning, featuring an incredible collaborative piece by Mark Hughes and Katharine Leigh Simpson, who also performed live throughout the hotel and interacted with visitors (sneak peek here). Enjoyed a beautifully choreographed dance from Angel Castro/ Halo Movement Collective performed outside on the roof top bar.

While Daniel Funkhouser presented “The al and wrap cores have been integrated for your convenience and safety-please return to your seat and enjoy your space flight”, which encompassed the room in lights, colors and even stars, truly creating a sensory experience, get a glimpse here. Holly Andersen and Rafael Navarro created “Transformation”, filling the room will thousands of paper butterflies, centering on a meditative figure place on a bed in the center of the room, with all the butterflies lite up with black lights. Christopher Oshana “Belt of Venus, Chapter 3” featured two models interacting while the viewers watch from the doorway, while OShana photographs the interaction and captures the viewers in a voyeuristic act.
