The third annual benefit event SMoCA Mix returns to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art May 2, 2015 with "Street Art Moves Inside".

This event helps to support SMoCA's mission and vision, which is "seeking to build and to educate audiences for modern and contemporary art, as well as to provide opportunities for the artistic community— locally, nationally and internationally." This year's SMoCA Mix features the exciting theme "Street Art Moves Inside", which will literally transform the galleries of the SMoCA evoking the spirit of the vibrant streets with engaging murals, music, special performances, cocktails and street food while working with local vendors and creatives. Previous SMoCA Mix events have included Night Circus and AURA, both were sold out and extremely successful fundraising events! This special event will showcase experiential installations as in the past and promises to be and amazing and unforgettable evening of art, entertainment, and more!

Smocaexhibits

In the mean time be sure to stop by and explore the latest exhibitions at the SMoCA. Featuring "southwestNET: Postcommodity" an engaging exhibition that will present two monumental installations: Promoting a More Just, Verdant and Harmonious Resolution (2011) and Pollination (2015). Postcommodity is a transdisciplinary American Indian arts collective that questions common national narratives and the commodification of nature, history and culture. Also on display is Afghan War Rugs: The Modern Art of Central Asia, with a collection of contemporary rugs from Afghanistan, gone are the traditional patterns replaced with  contemporary imagery of  today.

Come explore the captivating exhibitions at the SMoCA until April 26th, 2015. The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art is located at 7374 East Second Street, Scottsdale 85251. General admission to the museum is $7 for adults, $5 for students, and children under 15 are free. Every Thursday the museum offers complementary admission as well as Friday and Saturday evenings after 5pm.
