It’s time to head down to the Scottsdale Arts Festival this weekend March 13-15 for an amazing celebration of art, music, and food. This year’s festival features 175 artists, online art auction, live music from 27 wonderful local bands, gourmet food from some of the state’s finest food trucks, and engaging and fun family friendly art activities!

SAF ART

Artists exhibiting in the SAF are working in a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, glass, ceramics, jewelry, photography, printmaking, textiles, woodworking and more. Artists are selected by a jury of local arts professionals to exhibit as well as awarding prizes in many categories during the Festival. Online Art Auction features original artworks in variety of media donated by Festival artists on displayed at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts all weekend. The auction runs until 12pm on Monday, March 16th with proceeds from the auction benefitting the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Be sure to check out the AUCTION WEBSITE now.

Shifting Sand Land SFA

Also the Festival and Scottsdale Public Art are debuting the recently commissioned interactive artwork “SHIFTING SAND LAND” by artist Bobby Zokaites, a recent M.F.A. graduate of ASU Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. His artwork explores themes of adventure and childhood in his playful, large-scale spaces and objects. Shifting Sand Land is “Inspired by the video-game world of Super Mario Brothers and is an imaginative landscape of colorful platforms designed to keep people on their toes.”

Image Nation

This year the Arizona Coyotes has sponsored the family area of the Scottsdale Arts Festival called Imagine Nation. This year’s theme is “I Love Toys! FUN! Let's Play!” Providing engaging art projects and entertainment for children and their families offering a variety of sights, sounds, and hands-on art activities.  Located on the north side of City Hall, this areais open throughout regular festival hours, and free with festival admission.  

The Upper Strata

Musicians featured Jazz con Alma, Jaleo, Whiskey Kiss, J Powers Band, 52nd Street Jazz, The Blue Goats, Teneia Sanders, Jan Sandwhich Band, The Everyday Players, Traveler, Blues Review Band, St8Up Band, Robby Roberson Quartet, Ashley Wineland Band, The Upper Strata, Cultural Connections, Renee Patrick and Friends, ’56, Big Nick and the Gila Monsters, Carmela y Mas, SunPunchers, Arizona Youth Jazz Ensemble, Alan Jones Jazz Quintet, and the Bouncing Czechs will be performing on two stages the Amphitheater and Fountain Stage.

The Scottsdale Arts Festival is located at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts at 7380 E. Second Street, Scottsdale and is open on Saturday from 10am – 6pm and on Sunday from 10am – 5pm. Price of admission is just $10 for single day pass or $15 for a two-day pass, free for children under 12 and for members of the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and SMoCA.*Images courtesy of Scottsdale Arts Festival.
