The Scottsdale Dia de Los Muertos celebration returns as the only official outdoor Dia de Los Muertos observance celebration this fall.

LORE Media & Arts and the Old Adobe Mission present The 4th Annual Scottsdale Dia de Los Muertos Art Installation Experience, a FREE five-day walk-thru event celebrating the rich, ancient tradition of Dia de Los Muertos, commonly known as “Day of The Dead”.

What: The City of Scottsdale’s official Dia de Los Muertos annual tradition returns to Old Town with a new intimate art installation walk-through experience on The Old Adobe Mission grounds.

See fine-art installations, Mesoamerican inspired sculptures, and traditional altars. ScottsdaleDiadeLosMuertosbrings together world-class artists, and the local community to create a vibrant, visually entertaining, larger than life cross-cultural experience.

When: Thursday, October 29th thru November 2, 2020, 9 am - 10 pm

Where: Old Adobe Mission, 3817 N.Brown Ave, at 1st Street in OldTown Scottsdale, Arizona

What Happens: Following the 2019 success and tripling in size of the 3rd annual SDDLM event, the Covid-19 pandemic postponed further expansion until 2021. An intimate scaled-down Scottsdale Dia de Los Muertos Art-Installation walkthrough experience on the sacred grounds of the Old Adobe Mission. Covid-19 (Health & Safety Protocols) and social distance precautions will be in place. Stunning mural art panels painted by top tier artists from the Arizona Collective. Art panels from Los Angeles and Mexico City will also be introduced this year. Co-curator Lucretia Torva, Local famed artists Lalo Cota, father and son team Suchand Champs, Tato Caraveo, Darrin Wardle, Maggie Keane, David Morgan, Tara Sharpe, and many more local artists will be featured. Altars will be on display with traditional offerings.

An online social media ofrendas offering campaign will be launched on October 15th providing people the opportunity to submit online altar dedications which will be printed and placed on a Scottdale Dia de Los Muertos altar.

Robert Ramirez Scottsdale Dia de Los Muertos Founder and Lore Media and Arts spokesperson said: “This year’s Dia de Los Muertos will have an even stronger symbolic presence in Old Town. The Adobe Mission is the ‘Heart’ of Scottsdale and the ideal sacred setting to remember the dearly departed with specific emphasis on recent victims of the Covid-19 pandemic.”
