Meet local artist Turner G. Davis, who creates dynamic and captivating drawings, paintings and sculptures that transport his viewers to another place and time. Davis feels that his artwork is both autobiographical and fantastic while focusing on the exploration how memory influences the paths we find ourselves upon.

His artwork highlights his unique voice, showcasing his skills as a draftsman resulting in mesmerizing and intricate drawings, paintings and sculptures that highlight emotionally charged imagery and fascinating stories. When asked about his art work the Davis said, "my pictures skate along a crumbly edge between autobiography and the fantastic as I try to gently examine those places where the pleasure and burden of the body intersect with the lightness of dreams and nightmares."

Davis was traditionally trained and holds his MFA in Painting from the Hoffberger School of Painting, Maryland Institute College of Art. Davis has extensively exhibited his artwork throughout Arizona and Maryland And his work has been featured in numerous publication including LocalRevibe, YabYum Music & Art, and Phoenix New Times. He also teaches drawing and painting here in Phoenix.

Currently he has work on display in both galleries at the Eye Lounge Artist Collective in Downtown Phoenix of which he is a member. The exhibition titled "Stone Soup" offers what the artists is calling a mini retrospective of sorts, featuring both old and new work along with found objects. Davis is excited for his new solo exhibition which debuts this Friday, April 3rd at Willo North Gallery. "The City: Interiors and Exteriors showcasing Davis's latest drawings, paintings, and small sculptures, centered around the idea of the "city" and it's complexity both internally and externally.

Come meet and explore Davis's artwork for yourself at the Opening Reception of The City: Interiors and Exteriors will be held at Willo North Gallery this First Friday, April 3rd 6-9pm. The Closing Reception will be held Third Friday, April 17th from 6-9pm. The evenings will include a brief talk from the artist about his work and process.
