HomeTucsonTravel & Leisure › Unique Senior Offerings at Tanque Verde Ranch

Tucson is known for many wonderful things: gorgeous sunsets, delicious Mexican fare and fabulous hiking trails; but, one of the most well-known and beloved aspects of Tucson is its Wild West heritage. Bringing the Old West into present day is Tanque Verde Ranch, Tucson’s most high-end and authentic dude ranch. And now, retired Tucsonans and out-of-towners can look forward to daily events, specials and resort offerings, with a Western twist.

Tanque Verde Ranch, located just east of Tucson among the Rincon Mountains, is not new to the Tucson scene. As you may remember from our June Travel story on Tanque Verde Ranch, this all-inclusive resort has been around since 1868. They have always hosted a wealth of daily activities for resort guests, including horse rides on one of the ranch’s 180 horses, horseback adventures like team penning, mountain biking in the Sonoran Desert trails, swimming in the outdoor or indoor pools, playing tennis on one of the resort’s five tennis courts, experiencing country western dance with one of the ranch’s instructors and much more.

Mark your calendars for the first Saturday of every month, because if you’re a Tucson resident (or live nearby), you now have the option of waking up and being active first thing in the morning at Tanque Verde Ranch. Choose from numerous morning activities, like a guided nature breakfast walk ($25 per person), a mountain bike breakfast ride ($35 per person) or a horseback breakfast ride ($75 per person). If you don’t exactly live by the “early to bed early to rise” philosophy, why not try the ranch’s hour and a half evening horseback ride and cowboy barbecue ($95 per person)? The event takes place every Saturday night and includes the buy-one-dinner-get-one-free senior dining special.

Let’s be honest, you’re not always in the mood for an adventure. For anyone just simply looking to relax (and who can blame you?), Tanque Verde Ranch also has a perfectly peaceful daily offer, which includes lunch and a 50-minute massage at their signature spa, La Sonora Spa ($99 per person).

Not from around here? That’s no problem, as the ranch has a great deal for tourists, too. One great promotion is the senior airfare special: just by staying at Tanque Verde Ranch through February (some date exclusions apply), you can receive an airfare credit, which includes up to $300 for three nights, up to $500 for five nights and up to $700 for seven nights. When deciding on the details of your stay, the ranch’s All-American plan, featuring mountain-view guest rooms, three meals each day and various scheduled daily activities, is another option to consider.

As the scorching summer temps finally start to dip to the ideal fall climate Arizonans so love, don’t miss out on the perfect chance to visit Tanque Verde Ranch. For more information on the resort, call 800.234.3833 or visit www.tanqueverderanch.com.
