Justin Macy has worked at Miraval since 1999 at the age of 17. His mother worked with him as chef in the Miraval kitchen. After 13 years of outstanding service, Macy has been named Executive Chef of the award-winning destination resort.
Now, Macy will be responsible for all the resort’s culinary endeavors. He will oversee sourcing of the highest quality and local and organic ingredients for the property. Macy previously served as executive sous-chef at Miraval, and therefore knows what it takes to make Miraval successful and popular.
Along with Macy’s skill and talent, he has been an important part of the Miraval team since a young age. At age 17, Macy began working as a café attendant for Miraval. He was then promoted to the kitchen after showcasing his unmatchable culinary talents. He has been working on innovative approaches to food and creating delicious, healthy eats ever since.
Macy understands the eating philosophy of Miraval, making generally high-calorie dishes into more healthy meals. Miraval’s overall philosophy involves living and feeling better by nurturing one’s body, and the food offered at the resort is no different.
Not only has Macy been a star in the kitchen, but he has also helped bring attention to the one-of-a-kind resort. He has appeared on Oprah, and The Millionaire Matchmaker. He also developed Miraval’s “Evening with the Chef” series, and the In-Villa Culinary program. He also contributed to Miraval’s first cookbook, Mindful Eating, and is the co-author of the second cookbook, Sweet & Savory. Macy’s wife, Kim Macy, also co-wrote the second cookbook as the pastry chef at Miraval.
Macy’s remarkable story of climbing the ladder to the top is inspiring. His love of Miraval and connection to the resort through his mother, wife, and experiences, make him the perfect person for the Executive Chef position.
