HomeTucsonAZ Giving › Habitat for Humanity Tucson 4th Annual Golf Fundraiser

It’s always nice when giving back to the community can be combined with a bit of fun, and here in Tucson, playing a round of 18 holes definitely constitutes as fun. Clear your schedule and maybe even leave work a little early tomorrow in order to tee up for a great cause.

Tomorrow, Oct. 23, Tucson Realtors Charitable Foundation is hosting their 4th Annual Golf Fundraiser. The fundraiser benefits Habitat for Humanity Tucson, whose mission is to eliminate poverty housing in Southern Arizona by creating affordable housing through community action. Last year, the event raised over $23,480 and they hope to double that result this year. Registration is at noon, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. This enjoyable day of golf will last from 1-5 p.m., with a tournament banquet following. If you don’t golf, you can still attend the banquet and come out to support a great cause.

By participating in the golf tournament you are helping Habitat for Humanity continue to build homes in Tucson. Habitat knows that a safe, affordable home can make a huge difference for any family and they rely on donations, land, material, and time to construct each and every home. Habitat values giving a hand up, not a hand out. They promote inclusiveness and win/win partnerships, value for the dignity of each person, and a commitment to deliver a strong return on the community’s investment.

About 39,000 Tucson families spend more than 50 percent of their income on substandard housing every year. Habitat for Humanity partners with local volunteers to invest their time in constructing decent housing and in the lat 30 years, 300 families in Tucson have had the privilege of first-time home ownership. Habitat Tucson was founded in 1980 by George Tolman, Jerry McFarland and Mary Kelley and was the first affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International west of the Mississippi.

An individual ticket including golf and banquet dinner plus two drink tickets costs $125. Banquet dinner only is $30. There are also sponsorship opportunities for groups, like the Gold Sponsorship Package which includes golf for one foursome, dinner for four and two drink tickets per person, prominent recognition and exclusive hole signage.

Your involvement and contributions in the golf tournament will help to make home ownership a reality for others in the Tucson area. You can help in other ways as well, through volunteer opportunities and donations. For more information, and registration for the tournament, visit www.habitattucson.org.
