Description
Did you know that every fall in the US we produce approximately 1.1 billion pounds of pumpkins most of which are used for carving/decoration and then taken to the landfill? The Community Food Bank’s second annual Pumpkin Smash will be a fun, family friendly event focusing on sustainable gardening practices and how they can benefit our community as a whole. This exciting event will include the opportunity to bring and smash jack-o-lanterns for composting, sample pumpkiny treats, and watch pumpkin launching! We will have music, kid’s activities, and opportunities to learn more about community groups, gardening, the science of composting, and programs of the Community Food Bank. Last year in our first annual Pumpkin Smash, 250 people and 15 community partners converged at the farm.
