Who wouldn’t want short game advice from Phil Mickelson? Mr. No. 3 has created a new video to let us amateurs in on his 100-yards-and-in secrets.

As the proud owner of several improve-your-golf-game-and-fast instructional videos, I can tell you that they are getting a lot of use at present (as dust collectors on my bookshelf). As a believer in the ‘thou shall practice to reap the benefits’ mentality, it can be helpful to learn to visualize what a shot is suppose to look like in a perfect world. Whether it be a magazine foldout of a pro’s spot-on swing sequence or a tip you picked up from observing golfers practicing at a local range, visualizing a golf shot in your mind can assist in proper execution of it on the course.

Phil Mickelson, the currently ranked No. 3 golf player in the world, has teamed with Digital Broadcasting Group, a full-service video network specializing in the original production and distribution of video content across the Internet and other digital media, to produce and distribute the first golf instructional by a highly ranked player in 20 years.

Titled "Phil Mickelson: Secrets of the Short Game,” the videos are a collaboration with Terry Jastrow, an Emmy Award-winning producer and director. Mickelson’s videos will also be released as a webisodic series and distributed across the DBG Video Network.

"I'm always working with leading-edge technology in golf," said Mickelson. "So to be on the leading edge of web-based sports programming with 'Secrets of the Short Game' is a great fit for me. DBG's innovative production and distribution platform makes it a leader in its field, and I'm really excited that we're the first to explore this new world together."

The short game Phil Mickelson first developed as a boy on his backyard chipping green has been his calling card through a storied career. Now in his 18th year as a professional, Phil ranks No. 3 in the world with 37 career victories, tying for 11th among all-time winners on the PGA Tour and is third among all-time money winners. He is the only player who has won at least twice in each of the last six years. His run of major championship victories - the 2004 Masters, 2005 PGA Championship and 2006 Masters - was capped by "the fifth major," the 2007 Players Championship.

Look for the videos online as they are released beginning this month. Some sites that DBG says will feature the series include: www.cbssports.com, www.cnnsi.com and www.yahoo.com.
