If ever there was an ideal union between golf and hospitality, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts would be the happy honeymooners. The Resort giant, which also has numerous golf-equipped properties, just unveiled a remarkable list of golf vacation packages to suit any player’s destination desires and par pocketbooks.

Just as I hailed Fred Couples last week for being the embodiment of classic golf style, he shows up at the Masters in some tragically hip kicks.

As the first round of the Masters got underway, I only wish I could have kicked up my feet, snacked on a pimento-cheese sandwich and watched play in HD. Alas, this is the real world, where deadlines, meetings and to-dos take precedence over enjoying professional sports—however inconvenient that may be.

The Masters is like the Oscars of the golf world. Rather than a red carpet lined with media, shouting “Who are you wearing tonight?” the Master’s is a green carpet that stretches for 18 holes. Due to the enormity of eyes peering in on golf’s main stage, sponsors like Adidas and Ashworth carefully craft their player’s wardrobes each day of the tournament.
