The future of the Ballet Arizona took a dramatic turn with the opening of its new home. The $10 million, building has seven dance studios, an intimate theatre that seats 299 for performances and events, , a shoe room that can hold more than 2,000 pairs of ballet slippers and pointe shoes, a gigantic sewing room and artistic, administrative and support offices. Oct 7-12 Ballet Arizona will celebrate their new home with a Gala Unveiling on Oct. 11, 2013 and a Free Community Day on Oct. 12 when the public can come learn a few dance moves, watch a free performance, and see where the professional dancers and aspiring students train at the new 50,000 square foot center for dance. The Ballet Arizona company is busy rehearsing a variety of choreography for the free performance series: “Ballet Under the Stars” (Sep. 19 -28) and the season opener “Cinderella” (Oct. 31 –Nov. 3 at Symphony Hall).
