The Valley of the Sun is made up of many great cities- Tempe, Scottsdale, Glendale, Chandler, Gilbert, Phoenix, and Mesa, to name a few- all with their own perks and personalities, and all great places to live.

Whether your lease is expiring or you plan to move to the Valley soon, you have lots of great options when considering where you want to call home, especially when it comes to luxury apartment living. Think about these aspects while narrowing your search.

Lifestyle:

People often say location is the first thing to consider, but we say lifestyle and location go hand-in-hand. Do you prefer nightlife over outdoor activities? Do you have a family or are you single? Old Town Scottsdale is a great place for singles to mingle. Head a bit North to Scottsdale Quarter and you’ll find yourself in a playground for those who want to see and be seen, where you’ll have some of the finest shops and dining within steps of your new home.

Pick Tempe if you want to live near a college community, filled with entertainment and recreation destinations. Take your kayak or bike out on Tempe Town Lake. Enjoy a daily jog down Mill Avenue (or hang out there for great happy hour specials at its many restaurants and bars). Tempe is also home to Arizona State University, so expect to see the young and the beautiful daily, which is a selling factor in and of itself.

Healthy Stuff:

If you love to rise before the sun to conquer your favorite hiking trail or your daily routine includes walking your dog, your proximity to the Valley’s mountains and parks is key.

Camelback Mountain is a popular trail to hike. Living in or near the Biltmore area is a good choice for close proximity to Camelback Mountain. Plus, this area has a wide range of great, health-conscious eateries that’ll get you fueled-up before you take on the mountain. Located northeast of downtown Phoenix, Piestewa Peak is another great hiking trail. You’ll love having quick access to this great mountain, along with both urban and mountain views from your Phoenix apartment.

Find out if there are city parks nearby your apartment. The Valley’s community parks are all over and offer open green spaces, walking paths, athletic fields, and some even have lakes for fishing and running your remote controlled boat. Dreamy Draw Park in Phoenix is a favorite as is Steele Indian School Park in Scottsdale. Thanks to our great weather, city parks are open every day of the year.

That Job Thing:

No one enjoys sitting in traffic. Ever. Where you live may often come down to where you work.

If you plan to use public transportation to commute, you’ll want to live in or near Central Phoenix, downtown Phoenix, Tempe or Mesa, which are connected by the light rail. The Valley’s cities are tied together by a few major freeways, so access to those major freeways is also something you’ll want to consider when moving or relocating.

Break Up, Upgrade!:

After a break-up, your top priority is to move out and away, far, far away from your ex. In considering a break-up, any city is a viable option, so long as it’s not in the same city as your ex. Bumping into him or her at your neighborhood grocer or park is simply not an option.

While break-ups can be sad news, they can also be good news, since you’ll no longer have to negotiate with your partner about must-have amenities.

You want hard wood floors and walk-in closets, you’ve got them. You like the idea of your on premise workout facility including a yoga studio, no problem. Can’t live without a resort-style pool equipped with cabanas and barbecues, then jump in! The point is, you’re free to let your living preferences take precedence now. The Chandler and Gilbert areas have a great selection of apartments with gorgeous resort-style pools with waterfalls and whirlpool spas and luxurious landscaping.
