4. The Cane Hill Asylum

The name is probably a giveaway on this one. No part about the word “asylum” sounds pleasant. This London hospital has been long forgotten by its residents. The vandalism, collapsing floors and ceilings have spooky written all over them.

3. St. Pancras Parish Church

We know what you are thinking...church’s aren’t creepy, they are safe and peaceful. Well, you’re wrong on this one. This London house of worship holds a Crypt Gallery which contains over 500 grave sites along with various spooky works of art.

2. The Winchester House

While its original plans were not intended to be large, this house gradually grew to be a 7 story mansion! By the time it was “finished” (when it’s owner Mrs. Sarah Winchester passed away) it had 160 rooms, 2,000 doors, and 47 stairways. Mrs. Sarah Winchester’s home, surrounded by a huge cypress hedge, was built as a maze to confuse the rumored “evil spirits”.

1. Amityville Horror House

While from the facade this Dutch-Colonial style home may appear to be inviting, an alarming history lies within. 6 members of the DeFeo family were murdered in this home. If that’s not enough to scare you away, we don’t know what is. Hopefully we didn’t scare you too bad! Have an enjoyable and safe holiday season. Next time you walk into a building consider how it makes you feel. And remember, architecture has the power to set the entire tone of a structure.
