HomeFeaturesTech › Inspectress Gadget: Reasons not to Buy a Verizon iPhone - Page 2

Let’s see a Verizon iPhone do this.

Talk & Surf

If you are an iPhone user, you undoubtedly love to multitask (talk and use data). Please believe it, AT&T is the only provider that allows you to do both simultaneously. Verizon’s CDMA network stupidly doesn’t allow Talk & Surf, so you’ll need to hang up to find an e-mail, look on Facebook or map a location.  Hang up on mom to find the number for the restaurant where you’re meeting her? Not cool, Verizon.

Don’t think this is a big deal? In a survey, one-third of AT&T users said they used Talk & Surf daily.

Speed Matters

Listen to Luke Wilson.  AT&T actually does have the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network. No bones about it, the iPhone will just work much faster on AT&T than Verizon. Obviously, third-party testing organization GWS hasn’t been able to test the two providers against each other just yet, but their latest comprehensive drive testing shows the mobile broadband network is 35 percent faster than Verizon’s CDMA network on average nationally. And in case you forgot, AT&T is kicking some cellular ass with 4G. They’re the fastest in Phoenix, and getting faster every day, according to local Phoenix AT&T contacts.

Smart Network

Smart phones need a smart network. AT&T had a record number of iPhone activations in the third quarter of 2010, the most recent quarter for when these stats became available. Two-thirds of these new activations were AT&T customers to begin with, with one-third making the switch.
