For a while the world thought tab computers were obsolete- why use a tablet when you have a laptop for home and cell phone for the road? Well, what about when you’re lying in bed? Or at the house of your in-laws? Riding shotgun? Need to show a Powerpoint for a business presentation?

It turns out, Tabs are ideal for consuming media. Reading magazines via Zinio.com, checking out the news and bloggage, watching YouTube or Hulu, listening to tunes. And even more exciting, users rarely need storage these days, thanks to cloud computing—we stream everything from the internet. We upload docs to Google, photos to Facebook—It seems all we ever save anymore are .mp4s.

Which is why Tabs are just the next stop on our carousel of progress—we can’t even think of what’s next. Are the next miraculous gadgets just going to be pieces of glass?
