Looking for an entertaining, fun and educational experience that the whole family will love? Take a train ride on the Verde Canyon Railroad, otherwise known as Arizona’s largest-running nature show!
The Verde Canyon Railroad is located just two hours north of Phoenix and forty minutes from Sedona. This is an easy road-trip destination that the whole family will enjoy.
The journey begins at the Verde Canyon Railroad depot. You’ll find the Boxcar Gift Store, the Copper Spike Café, Whistle Stop at Milepost 38 and the John Bell Museum.
The museum showcases over a century of Verde Canyon Railroad history and memorabilia and is located in nothing other than a real boxcar. How cool is that?
Once aboard the fully restored vintage train, you will be enamored with the history and the realization of how luxury train travel was done in a different time.
Traveling through Verde Canyon is one of the most breathtaking experiences I have ever had in Arizona. With captivating views of untouched and unspoiled canyon, this is something that my kids and I will never forget. The tour guides were also well informed and guided us through the rock formations, previously inhabited caves and the history of the railroad along the way. My children thoroughly enjoyed finding rocks that looked like animals, especially the turtle and the elephant!
The Verde Canyon Railroad offers a variety of events ranging from the Saturday Starlight Ride, Wine-Tasting, Tequila-Tasting, Ales on Rails and so much more. To find out more about the Verde Canyon Railroad, go to www.VerdeCanyonRR.com
