In September, BMW released its much-anticipated 2010 X5 M and XM6 M models. These new crossover vehicles combine BMW's sports activity design and M engineering to form a sleek, athletic package.

The new models are variants of the X5 and X6 hybrids with boosted performance featuring a 4.4-liter M designed turbo V-8 engine. Also under the hood is 555 horsepower and over 500 pound-feet of peak torque. New to the M series, both vehicles sport the xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Dynamic Performance Controls adds a selective torque boost to both rear wheels.

The X5 M and X6 M's high-tech features also includes the M Sport Automatic Transmission. Drivers are given the option of three gear modes to select from: Drive, Sport and M Manual. The steering wheel features M paddle shifters which allows for advanced control. Inspired by BMW's Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupe lines, the X5 M and X6 M to appeal to BMW enthusiasts, recreational drivers, and average drivers alike.
