Scarizona Scaregrounds in Mesa

Go big or go home. In this case, going home may be tempting. From Sept. 28 to Nov. 2, Arizona’s largest haunted house will reopen. The ground’s three blood-chilling haunts, Startled Darkness, Slayer’s Slaughter House and Epic Fear will return. New this year, Scarizona has added Operation Zombie storm, an interactive zombie paintball shoot and Virtual Terror, a five-minute virtual tour of a haunted house. After a terror-filled night, Scaregrounds offers their guests a chance to unwind in their Beer and Wine Cemetery where “spirits come to life.” Tickets to all five attractions are $37.95 and can be purchased online.

AZ Field of Screams in Glendale

Rumor has it AZ Field of Screams is actually haunted. Believed to be built over an old cemetery, the corn maze will welcome back fear-seekers from Oct. 2 to Oct. 31. As you venture through the terror-filled corn maze and encounter horrifying views, just know the chills running down your neck are more than your view. No worries though, the attraction welcomes guests to celebrate the happier side of Halloween by taking home a pumpkin from its pumpkin patch. Zombie WarZ in Chandler

“The Walking Dead,” “I Am Legend,” “World War Z”; fan favorites that have made us frighteningly obsessed at the thought of a zombie apocalypse. This October, play on that fear at Zombie WarZ’s interactive zombie apocalypse experience. As you travel through the deserted desert in a M923 army truck, be prepared to fight off ghastly, flesh-starved zombies with a paintball gun. World WarZ will be open the month of October. Tickets are $25, discounted online. For more information visit zombiewarzaz.com.
