Tucson, AZ, March 30, 2022 — The American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all, is proud to announce the Heart of Southern Arizona annual campaign raised more than $750,000! This campaign culminated in the Southern Arizona Heart Ball on Saturday, March 19 at the Westin La Paloma Resort. Anthony and Emily Schaefer chaired the 2021-22 campaign. Anthony leads the renowned real estate group The Schaefer Team at Long Realty Company and Emily is a Registered Nurse at Haven Hospice. Because of their incredible volunteer leadership, the Schaefers surpassed their goal of raising $650,000 to support the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association.

“We are blown away by the generosity of the Southern Arizona community,” said Anthony. “Emily and I were inspired by the American Heart Association’s mission to create a world for longer, healthier lives. The two of us believe in closing health equity gaps, so everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy life. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all you volunteered and donated to the Heart of Southern Arizona campaign.”

March 19’s Southern Arizona Heart Ball featured a special guest in Camerone Elise Parker, a model and actress, who shared her story of surviving four heart attacks in the last few years.

The dollars raised by the Heart of Southern Arizona campaign fund the mission of the American Heart Association to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives while supporting priority issues in Southern Arizona. Mental health has been identified by the American Heart Association Southern Arizona board for 2022 as a priority issue. Funds raised will help propel work to support the Association’s 2024 Health Equity Impact Goal, reducing barriers to health care access and quality.
