The Women’s Board of Barrow Neurological Foundation Announces Annual Grand Ball
Celebrating 50 Years of Barrow Neurological Institute
The Women’s Board of Barrow Neurological Foundation will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Barrow Neurological Institute on Saturday, January 21 in the Grand Ballroom at the Arizona Biltmore. The 2012 Barrow Grand Ball is the culmination of a year of planning for this intimate event chaired by Nita Francis and Nancy Gaintner. Barbara Henward is this year’s Ball Advisor.
“We are excited to kick-off the 50th year celebration for this world-renowned institution founded in 1962,” said co-chair Nancy Gaintner. “We thank all the members of the Women’s Board, the Barrow Foundation, and the many loyal friends of Barrow for the support we are receiving this year,” stated co-chair Nita Francis. Nita and her husband Phil are underwriting this year’s ball so that all proceeds will go directly to research and programs that will benefit patients in personal miracles every day. The individual successes and technological advances that come as a result of patron generosity continue to benefit the community, state and patients globally.
This year, the Women’s Board special project is the Barrow Center for Neuromodulation, a legacy project of Robert F. Spetzler, MD. The center’s goal is to offer new hope and help to patients struggling with a wide variety of neurological disorders, including depression, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injury, alcoholism and bipolar disorder.
“If you can restore function in those who now have no hope for a normal life, you can make an incredible impact on society,” said Dr. Spetzler.
“Because of the generosity of our guests and benefactors, the Women’s Board of Barrow Neurological Foundationcontinues to be able to fund significant research projects so important to those who suffer from neurological disorders” said Penny Gunning, Chairman of the Women’s Board.
The Arizona Biltmore Grand Ballroom will be beautifully decorated by the talented team from White House Design Studio. Dinner and dance music will be provided by Affinity under the direction of Jim May. It promises to be an elegant, exciting event celebrating significant funds raised over the past year and kicking off the 2012 celebration of the golden anniversary of Barrow Neurological Institute.
