Valley Salon Offers Free Services, Charity Auction
The 10,000-sq.-ft. Athena's Salon and Day Spa in Glendale is celebrating being under the new management of Natasha Wallace by hosting a Re-Grand Opening Celebration to benefit Gabriel's Angels on July 29. The celebration is the perfect time to get in some summer pampering. It will include free shampoo/blow drys; polish changes; brow and lip waxing; chair massages, mini-hydratherapy facials and a silent auction and raffle prizes with all proceeds benefiting Gabriel's Angels. The nonprofit is the only program in Arizona that delivers healing pet therapy to abused, neglected and at-risk children. The event is open to the public. www.athenasalon.com.
Charity Bike Ride Announced
Whether you are an avid cyclist or prefer a leisurly ride with your family, Trails 4 Trials, the first organized charity ride in the West Valley, invites locals to join together in the journey for a cure. The bike race and family fun ride takes place Sept. 28 will benefit Gateway for Cancer Research, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding innovative clinical trials to aid those living with cancer. Trails 4 Trials will donate 99 cents of every dollar received toward cancer research. Valley Resort Hosts Contest
Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort in Phoenix has announced its Family Freeze Frame Photo Contest. Visitors--whether local or out-of-towners--can easily upload their pictures taken on property during their summer vacation for the chance to win a three-day stay with $200 in resort credit each day. In order to win, Facebook fans will be able to upload their photos through Aug. 8, each with a caption of 30 words or less. The pictures will be voted on by family, friends and fans from Aug. 9-23. And--ta da!--the person who took the photo with the most votes wins a return to the resort.
