Donate Old Cell Phones This Summer
Phoenix's Keep It Cut, a men's hair salon, is a designated drop-off location for the national nonprofit, Cell Phone For Soldiers. In honor of National Cell Phone Courtesy Month (July), the men's hair salon is collecting your old cell phones during the month of July in exchange for a chance for you to win free haircuts for six months. Each person who donates a phone (valued at $5) will be entered into a drawing for a free six-month membership at the salon. The promotion will begin on July 1 and go through July 31. A winner will be announced on August 1. One entry per person.
Karma Kids Yoga Kamp
Finding unique activities for the kids during the Arizona summers can be a challenge. But one Valley yoga studio has a fit and fun alternative to another round of video games. United Blood Services has partnered with 12 News, The Arizona Republic, 17 Valley radio stations and community sponsors to ask you to give blood June 24 to July 5, as the two weeks surrounding July 4 have traditionally been the most difficult to meet patient blood needs. The need for blood donors has escalated since the beginning of the vacation season, especially for type O-negative, the universal blood type required primarily by emergency and trauma patients, and also used in life-saving transfusions in premature babies.
