Description

Desert Stages Theatre (DST) announces the opening night of “Grease School Edition” on Friday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Desert Stages mainstage. For tickets, please visit DesertStages.org.

“Grease School Edition” will be a family-friendly adaptation of 1971 musical “Grease,” performed by actors ages 3-19. The show takes place as Rydell High’s senior class of 1959 return from summer vacation. Danny Zuko, head “greaser” of the “Burger Palace Boys,” hopes to relive his summer romance with Sandy Dumbrowski, the new girl in town. As the two recall the songs of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley, they’re joined by the hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys” and the hip-shaking “Pink Ladies.” The two groups sing and dance their way through the shows classic songs, “Greased Lightnin,” “Raining on Prom Night” and “Alone at the Drive-In Movie,” in a high energy family-friendly adaptation. The show will be co-directed by Sam Primack and Isiah Salazar, and choreographed by Sarah Pansing. Both Primack and Pansing are Desert Stages alumni who started their career as child performers at DST.

Performances of “Grease School Edition” will begin on Friday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m., and end on Sunday, March 24. “Grease School Edition” will play Fridays and Saturdays, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. For more information about performance dates and times please visit DesertStages.org.
