When master stylist Giselle Von Schell isn’t the main attraction at the Beauty by Veronica salon in Old Town, Scottsdale, she’s traveling the world picking up beauty secrets at every stop. She’s at the top of her game, and styles for Alexis DelChiaro, former FOX10 anchor, among other celebrity clientele. Von Schell styles at photo shoots across the country, participates in hair shows, and teaches classes at Beauty by Veronica. You might’ve even seen her on a morning makeover show on a local news channel. Did we mention she’s also an extension expert?

With all of that experience under her belt, Von Schell is more motivated than ever and ready to take on the world, keeping her hairspray close. She started out as a student at one of Arizona’s top salons and excelled in her program. Von Schell is truly inspired by the industry, and uses her skills as a form of self-expression especially through avante garde styling. She plans to eventually phase out of working behind the chair and focus on traveling to further develop her international training. “I like being on the field, where it’s more fast-paced and exciting, and enjoy bringing back the latest trends to my clients,” she says.

At the moment, Von Schell is expanding her business and taking advantage of every opportunity. “My day-to-day schedule is pretty random!” she says, “Half the time I’m in the salon doing hair and once a week or more, I’ll run over to California to do something typically for a photo shoot for a small magazine.”

We couldn’t let Von Schell leave without getting a few of her beauty secrets. Here are some winter hair trends and advice from Giselle herself:

Cut to encourage the natural wave by adding medium to heavily layers to the hair, falling 2-4 inches below the collar bone. Add a bang that hits just below the eyebrow to spice it up. What makes this style refreshing is the length and natural looking wave working together. Think, loose beach waves. cut to encourage the natural wave by adding medium to heavily layers to the hair.

How to get it: After the hair is dry, wind two inch sections of hair around the outside of large curling iron, alternating direction. Then break up the sections by raking your fingers though them. This look is effortless and so in trend for the winter!

Giselle has a section on her Web site www.gisellevonschell.com called Ask Giselle, where clients can ask any hair-related questions!
